We're selective about who joins our network to ensure the highest quality care for pets.
Pet Care Experience
At least 1 year of professional or serious volunteer experience working directly with pets.
Specialized Expertise
Demonstrated knowledge in at least one specialty area such as separation anxiety, medication administration, or senior pet care.
Character & Communication
Genuine passion for animals, strong sense of responsibility, professional demeanor, and excellent client communication skills.
Background Verification
Clean background check and comprehensive identity verification to ensure trust and safety for pet parents.
In-Person Assessment
Successful completion of our in-person interview and reference check with pet parents.
Chicagoland Residence
Current residence in the Chicago area to join our platform. Non-Chicago resident can still use Tails as business management software (coming soon!)

Earnings vary based on your services, rates, and availability. Top providers earn $800-1,500 weekly with consistent bookings. With our low 10% commission (vs. industry standard 20-40%), you keep more of what you earn.
Tails charges a 10% commission on bookings plus a $25 monthly platform fee. We also offer an annual option at $250 (saving you $50) when you pay for 12 months upfront.
You can offer dog walking, drop-in visits, pet sitting, in-home boarding, doggy daycare, and specialized services like medication administration or training.
Our algorithm matches your specific skills and experience with pet parents whose pets have compatible needs. Instead of competing with hundreds of profiles, you're presented directly to clients as their ideal match.
Absolutely! You have complete control over your rates, service types, and availability. Tails provides suggested price ranges based on market data, but the final decision is always yours.
We strongly recommend providers maintain their own pet sitter liability insurance. We can recommend affordable options through our partner providers.
