Tails take-home, per year at this rate

This estimate compares provider take-home from Tails against Rover's starting sitter tier for a new client relationship. Tails charges a flat 10% provider fee — clients you bring yourself are fee-free for your first 3 months. Rover's sitter fee drops after $600 and $1,200 of booking history with that client. Parent-side fees (6% payment processing on Tails, 11% booking fee on Rover) are separate and excluded from the take-home bars.
Rover's published pilot uses client-level booking history to set sitter service fees. In the pilot, sitter fees start at 30% for clients with $599 or less in booking history with that sitter, then move to 15% and 10% at higher thresholds. Rover's owner booking fee remains separate.
Tails starts at 6% total on bookings from your own clients: the provider fee is 0% for your first 3 months and pet parents pay a 6% payment-processing fee. After 3 months — and on new clients Tails matches you with — the provider fee is a flat 10% (16% total). Rover can start at 41% total in the tier pilot.
Providers who bring existing client relationships to Tails keep the full listed rate from those clients for their first 3 months — the provider fee is waived. After that, a flat 10% provider fee applies, the same as new bookings. The 6% pet-parent payment-processing fee is separate.
Provider fees compound across recurring clients. Lower fees give providers more room to set sustainable rates, keep reliable schedules, and spend more time on care instead of chasing extra volume to offset marketplace cuts.
Providers can apply through the Tails provider page, then use the app to manage booking, payments, client messages, and pet care services.
