Rover tier system FAQ

What is the Rover tier system?

Rover's published pilot uses client-level booking history to set sitter service fees. In the pilot, sitter fees start at 30% for clients with $599 or less in booking history with that sitter, then move to 15% and 10% at higher thresholds. Rover's owner booking fee remains separate.

Is Tails cheaper than Rover for providers?

Tails starts at a 5% total platform fee for existing-client bookings because the provider fee is waived. New bookings are 15% total: 10% provider fee plus 5% pet-parent fee. Rover can start at 41% total in the tier pilot.

What does keep 100% of existing-client bookings mean?

It means providers can bring existing client relationships to Tails and keep the full listed rate from those clients. The provider fee is waived, while the 5% pet-parent fee still applies.

Why does this matter for dog walkers and pet sitters?

Provider fees compound across recurring clients. Lower fees give providers more room to set sustainable rates, keep reliable schedules, and spend more time on care instead of chasing extra volume to offset marketplace cuts.

Where should providers apply?

Providers can apply through the Tails provider page, then use the app to manage booking, payments, client messages, and pet care services.
